A company has been forced to apologize over an insensitive video mocking Amber Heard’s domestic violence allegations.
In a bizarre attempt to promote their bath bombs, Bath Box released a video showing an employee throwing the product at another team member while Amber Heard’s testimony plays in the background.
The clip, which was captioned: “Have you ever been slapped in the face with a bath bomb?”, has been deleted from the company’s social media following a major backlash.
“I’m walking out of the bedroom, he slapped me across the face. I turned to look at him and I said ‘Johnny you hit me, you just hit me,’” Heard claimed in the audio the company used to promote their bath bombs.
Meanwhile, the two workers attempted to recreate the alleged domestic violence incident by hitting each other with bath bombs.
After the clip went viral, the company faced a barrage of angry comments from people accusing them of attempting to profit off of domestic violence.
“It’s disgusting that you would mock survivors by using audio from a domestic abuse case to be ‘funny’ and promote your product. You should be ashamed,” one person wrote.
“This is disgusting use of a domestic violence victim’s legal testimony. Who thought this was a good idea?” another said.
The third wrote: “This is despicable. I hope you seriously rethink this as a way of selling. What a gross thing to do.”
Following a major backlash, a spokesperson for the company apologized for the insensitive video in a statement obtained by 7 News.
“At Bath Box we DO NOT condone domestic violence and DO NOT think that domestic violence is a laughing matter,” the spokesperson said.
“Our deepest and sincerest apologies go out to anyone who has been or will be offended by the social media post.”
