The Bachelorette star Charlie Newling has passed away at the age of just 36 after getting involved in a tragic accident.
According to the reports, the man was found dead in the Sydney suburb of Dover Heights on Saturday night after his car plunged off a cliff.
The accident is believed to have come just two months after the troubled reality star welcomed his second child.
Newling was best known for appearing on the 2018 season of The Bachelorette where he was branded as “Mr. Perfect” thanks to his family values before getting booted from the show when fans accused him of coercive behavior towards contestant Ali Oetjen whom he refused to introduce to his relatives until they were fully committed to each other.
After getting kicked from the show, the young man was involved in a scuffle outside Double Bay’s The Golden Sheaf following a dispute with the bouncers. It was then also revealed that Newling had a son, 8, at the time of the show and that he failed to reveal this information to other contestants.
In 2022, after a brief relationship with former Bachelor star Dasha Gaivoronski, Newling was sentenced to 13 months in prison for threatening to kill and torture his stepfather in a series of texts.
“You are still controlled by that flog of a husband. I’m going to kill him one day in front of you before I go,” one text to his mother read.
“You have no idea what I’m capable of but just know it’s not going to be pretty.”
While the judge working the case acknowledged the fact that Newling suffered severe childhood trauma in his past when he was left caring for his paraplegic father, he also argued that the “fear, torment, and horror” that he caused with his messages must be considered.
