A 3-year-old girl has tragically died after being swept up into a giant waterfall in North Carolina.
According to local media reports, the 3-year-old girl was identified as Nevaeh who hailed from Pennsylvania. She fell to her death while she was playing in the sand.
The giant 411-foot Whitewater Falls is a common sight for travelers and citizens who come from all over to visit the beauty of nature but little did anyone know that it was a dangerous destination too.
Nevaeh Jade and her family happened to be visiting the area when all of a sudden the tragedy struck as the child was swept away and then plunged to a massive depth below, as mentioned by the area’s Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency crews claim they received heartbreaking calls for help and that’s when crews were dispatched right away at about 5:50 pm.
The young child’s body was recovered at 1 am in the night after a massive rescue search ended on Monday.
Sources added how the child’s father works in construction and they had been living in South Carolina at the moment. And that’s when they all thought it would be fun to go on a hike to spend some quality time. But the fact that the hike would tear the family apart forever was the last thing they could ever dream of.
The victim’s parents are mourning the loss of their little one, where they were recently heard speaking during a heartbreaking interview about what went on at that time.
“We did everything we could to rescue her. However, the current was too strong and it just swept her down in seconds and over the waterfall. The angels caught her”- the mother concluded with tears running down her face.
