A 25-year-old man from Tennessee has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the tragic deaths of a 2-day-old baby, Kennedy, and her mother, 27-year-old Danielle Hoyle.
Brandon Isabelle admitted to killing the mother and throwing their child into the Mississippi River.
Police are still searching for the child but Memphis police wrote on Twitter that evidence suggests the newborn is dead.
According to reports, the incident started to unfold on Tuesday at around 11:15 pm when cops found an abandoned car in the area of Levi Road and Sedgwick Street.
Police then found the body of Danielle Hoyle, who had been shot in the head.
Hoyle’s grieving family told police that her 2-day-old baby had been with her but they did not find the child in the vehicle.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an Amber Alert for the child. Hours later, her car seat was found in a Walmart parking lot but there were no signs of Kennedy.
Police then identified Kennedy’s biological father, Isabelle, as a suspect and brought him in for questioning.
Isabelle admitted to luring Hoyle to Whitehaven before he fatally shot her. The affidavit of complaint also alleged that he “admitted to taking the two day old child out of Danielle’s vehicle, driving the child to Island Park and the Upper Mud Island Boat Ramp, where he tossed the child into the water.”
Isabelle told officers he threw the gun into the water.
Authorities were searching the Mud Island area of Memphis and Mississippi River in search of the child’s body.
Kennedy’s heartbroken grandmother, April Campbell, told Action News 5: “I want him to suffer like he made my baby suffer.
“I want him to hurt. I don’t want it to be easy for him. … why would you hurt a baby?”
