A baby girl died from injuries she suffered when a massive dress toppled and crushed her at her grandparents’ home.
22-month-old Ja’Laya Bryant was playing at her grandparents’ home in South Carolina when a large piece of furniture she tried to climb on toppled over and landed on her fragile body.
After the incident, emergency services were immediately called to the family’s home. Unfortunately, the injuries were too severe and the girl passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest while trapped underneath the dresser.
According to the preliminary investigation, the child died of asphyxiation while trapped underneath the dresser. No foul play is suspected.
“My family needs prayer like none other. Yesterday my great-great niece climbed on a dresser that toppled over and fell on top of her. They were not able to save her,” Ja’Laya’s great aunt shared in her heartbreaking post.
“PLEASE PLEASE- double check that your furniture it bolted to the wall, doors are closed to keep our littles safe! My beautiful great-great niece, Ja’Laya, loved by everyone with her attitude and precious personality! Life will never be the same, but by God’s grace we will persevere!”
Meanwhile, the toddler’s devastated mom, Jordan Donaldson, said her world is upside down as she asked for space and privacy.
“Thank Y’all For All The Calls And Text, We Just Gotta Take It One Day At A Time! I Know Everyone Wants To See Me, But I Need Space … My World Is Upside Down,” she wrote.
Our thoughts remain with Ja’Laya’s loved ones during this challenging time.
