An 8-month-old baby girl was found dead alongside her parents and another relative after they were kidnapped from their business in California.
Jasdeep Singh, 36, his wife Jasleen Kaur, 27, their baby Aroohi Dheri, 8 months, and Singh’s brother Amandeep, 39, were found lifeless and are believed to have been murdered by Jesus Salgado, who remains in the hospital after trying to take his own life.
Salgado, 48, reportedly tried to use one of the family’s ATM cards.
The horrific murders remain unexplained.
Only hours before the bodies were discovered, authorities released surveillance footage of them being dragged out of the business in cable ties at the intersection of Dickenson Ferry Road and South Highway 59.
Police are waiting for Salgado to regain consciousness before charging him for the murders.
Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke said: “We found the four people from the kidnapping and they are in fact deceased. There is no words to describe the anger I feel, and the senselessness of this incident.”
Referring to the killer, Warnke said: “There’s a special place in hell for this guy, and what we’re going to deal with tonight is bad.”
Grieving family members said nothing was stolen from the company but that the victims were all wearing jewelry.
Warnke also said that an ATM card belonging to one of the deceased was used in Atwater.
Police were trying to question Salgado to determine whether another person was involved.
“Until we get some kind of conversation going with the suspect, we are not 100 percent,” Warnke said.
“I fully believe that there was one other person involved. We don’t have any evidence to support that. It’s just the circumstances surrounding this.”
