A one-year-old child reportedly died from dehydration after being left alone and helpless after the death of his drug addict mother.
According to reports from local media outlets, the mother had passed away after she inhaled lighter fluid and that left the young child alone and helpless. And in the end, a lack of food and water led to his tragic death, sources confirmed.
The mother was known to have struggled severely from drug addiction and was named Natalie Kane. Both mother and son were found dead at their residence in Whitehaven in Cumbria.
It was not until five days that their loved ones had gone to check up on them, only to realize the horror of what had taken place before their eyes.
The scene was a very devastating one and it has been reported that the paramedics who arrived to provide assistance were very upset at the visuals that happened to be on display at that time.
Meanwhile, an inquest into the case was heard today about how the little boy passed away from dehydration after he was forced to survive alone with no one by his side.
While the mother had a known drug history, no other drugs were reportedly found inside her system, other than the drug methadone that she was taking after being prescribed. This was found in her urine when it was analyzed just 7 days before her death.
But on Christmas Eve last year, the mother chose to inhale lighter flue and therefore endured catastrophic effects from her actions.
