A young girl whose sister was killed by a tornado that also left her mother fighting for her life in a hospital was seen walking down the hospital corridors and smiling again.
7-year-old Avalinn Rackley was filmed using a walker as she walked down the hallway at Le Bonheur Children’s hospital.
In the heartwarming video shared by her grandmother Pamela Moore, Avalinn can be heard saying: “The floor’s kinda slick” as she continued her walk through the corridor.
Moore also shared another video of Avallinn drawing a heart around a photo of her and her sister Annistyn, who tragically died after tornadoes hit Missouri.
“There we go,” she can be heard saying as she finished her drawing.
The grandmother was also heard saying: “That’s beautiful, baby. Sisters forever.”
The heartwarming videos were shared on Facebook with the caption: “So I’m gonna fill your heart with joy and then break it at the same time (welcome to my world).”
“Physically, Ava is doing amazing. If this last drain comes out, we may get to come home tomorrow. Emotionally, she misses Annistyn.”
Speaking to Daily Mail, Avalinn’s great-aunt Sandra Hooker said that the 7-year-old should be home by the weekend as family members continue to pray for a miracle for her mother, who is still fighting for her life.
The family’s plight captured the attention of the country when a photo of Avalinn and her sisters went viral after over 30 tornadoes hit several states and killed at least 90 people, including Annistyn.
On Thursday, the brave girl started to learn how to walk again after a successful round of surgery for her damaged back.
“Good job” You’re doing so good,” her family can be heard saying as she took her first steps. “I love you so much.”
