Archie Battersbee passed away today at 12:15 pm when his doctors at the hospital were commanded to switch off his life support machine.
The 12-year-old was surrounded by his emotional parents who tried their absolute best in keeping their son alive and went through every last ditch effort to ensure his life support continued to stay on.
But unfortunately, the final plea at a European high court was rejected as was the parents’ request to let their child die peacefully in hospice, resulting in the tragedy today.
The heartbreaking months-long tragic battle came to an end at the Royal London Hospital as his family ran out of all of their legal options as was noted yesterday.
The reason for the final plea for transfer to Hospice being rejected by the hospital was related to Archie’s condition which doctors concluded to be too unstable for shifting.
His mother was seen speaking a few final words after his death, including how proud of a mother she was to be his parent, also mentioning how brave her son was to go through all of this for months and still not give up.
Close relatives were seen gathering at the hospital and they were the ones who informed the long list of media reporters outside that Archie had died.
Archie was taken off all of his medications at 10:00 and during the next two hours, his stats remained totally stable. But after that, they were soon seen reducing his ventilation and resulting in him having great difficulties in breathing, leading to his death.
His mother spoke about how her child went blue and hoped no family member ever goes through what she had to go through, calling the incident a totally barbaric act.
In the end, pictures showed family members comforting one another as they wiped off tears from Archie’s parents’ faces.
