America’s Got Talent star Scott Alexander has passed away suddenly at the age of just 52.
The AGT alum, who appeared as a magician in the show’s sixth season, died on Sunday while working on a cruise ship, his wife confirmed.
In a tear-jerking statement on Instagram, Jenny Alexander revealed that her husband died after suffering a stroke.
“I lost my husband yesterday. My kids lost their father. He suffered a stroke while working on a cruise ship in St Kitts and did not make it home to us. We are shattered. Please hold us in your prayers,” she wrote.
Mr. Alexander was best known for participating in the Season Six of AGT in which he reached the quarterfinals before being eliminated from the contest.
Besides his performance on the big stage, the performer regularly shared his magic tricks via his social media profiles. Alexander also appeared on season two of Penn & Teller: Fool Us.
Following his sudden death, social media was flooded with tributes from well-wishers including fellow performers.
“A brilliant and creative magician left us today. Scott Alexander was fab, and he gifted us with great performances and awesome material which will take his name forward. A real loss. Scott was one of the really good ones. #RIPScottAlexander,” daredevil Jonathan Goodwin expressed.
“I’m sitting here in shock staring at my computer screen. Jenny, my heart is heavy thinking of you and your kids. I will be praying for you all for strength. God Bless you, your kids and may your husband always be your guardian angel!!!!” another mourner said.
Magician Paul Armstrong added: “The world of magic is a poorer place today. Shocked and saddened at the sudden passing of Scott Alexander. My thoughts are with his family.”
