An Amber Alert was issued for a two-month-old baby after she was taken under duress by her “armed and dangerous” father.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department revealed that 2-month-old Itzel Sanchez and her mom, 31-year-old Sabrina Sanchez, were kidnapped by the baby girl’s father, 25-year-old Efrain Sanchez-Jiminez.
According to the reports, the man forced the pair into his vehicle and went on a run after s*xually assaulting an unnamed family member.
The California Highway Patrol has since revealed that Jiminez’s silver 2007 Buick Lucerne with the plate number AUI-X94 was last seen in the Lancaster area of California’s Los Angeles County.
Authorities also warned that the suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous.
“He made recent threats to murder his wife and child and is believed to be armed with a handgun,” the police department confirmed.
In a statement to the press, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department added:
“It is believed the victims left with the suspect out of duress and fear for their safety, after he previously committed a sexual assault upon a family member.
“Suspect Sanchez has made recent threats to murder his wife and child and he is believed to be armed with a handgun. Suspect Sanchez should be considered armed and dangerous.”
As of this writing, the California Highway Patrol expanded their search to several counties including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Imperial.
Sanchez has been described as a 5’ 8’’ Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes.
The authorities are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to immediately contact the police.
