A giant 11-foot-long alligator has reportedly snatched and killed a victim in South Carolina recently.
Reports from local media outlets confirmed the horrifying incident that is believed to have taken place at a local pond on Friday.
Sources claim the victim was busy chopping up some grass near the pond but he had no clue that it could possibly be infested with an alligator who managed to snatch him down to the ground and kill him in an instant.
The victim’s identity is yet to be revealed but it is believed he was a citizen belonging to the Myrtle Beach district.
Sources from the local fire department mentioned how they had been called in initially to the scene for a water-related incident. They had no idea what they were dealing and by the time they got there, they found the victim lying dead at around 11:45 am.
Officials from the South Carolina Natural Resources department were immediately called in and they euthanized the giant creature to prevent it from causing further harm to locals in the district. Therefore, the authorities have now confirmed that there is no longer any lingering threat to local citizens in the community.
A spokesperson for the police department says they were made aware by one neighbor who the man had been grabbed by the alligator which took him and them by surprise. He was working on the side of the pond but the alligator managed to retreat him into the water and killed him in the end.
The workers of the fire department managed to retrieve the deceased victim’s body from the pond as soon as they arrived and hence have now informed his loved ones of the horrifying tragedy too.
