Alec Baldwin has finished the production of the forsaken Western movie Rust and is ready to move on with his acting career.
The 65-year-old embattled Hollywood star, who fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a prop gun on the set of Rust back in 2021, has secured a new movie role after being cleared of all criminal charges.
Now, his upcoming starring role has been revealed, sparking fury among the actor’s critics.
According to the reports, Baldwin will appear in ‘Kent State,’ a movie about the notorious 1970 Kent State University shootings.
In May 1970, Ohio National Guard opened fire on students during a peaceful anti-war rally and a protest against the country’s expansion of the Vietnam War in Cambodia.
As a result of the shooting, four students on the Kent State University campus were shot dead. An additional seven or more were injured in the confrontation.
The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that Baldwin will play the role of Robert White, Kent State University’s former president, in the upcoming movie.
Speaking of the movie, Deadline explained that the events will be narrated from the perspective of Will McCormack, exploring the questions about what happened on that day and why similar events still continue to occur.
“The Kent State shooting was a dark and pivotal moment in our nation’s history. This is a story that needs to be told and surprisingly never has,” the film’s producer, Tom Ortenberg, told Deadline.
“We are looking forward to bringing it to the big screen to educate and inspire both the young and old alike.”
