Terrifying and now viral images from New York’s JFK airport are spreading like wildfire on social media that show frightening scenes from a flight scheduled for today.
Sources claim a passenger’s phone charger caught on fire and that led to the entire aircraft and cabin area is full of smoke. Similarly, there was panic and fear all around as many wondered what the next step would be for this flight.
The incident took place on Saturday night and the flight was identified to be JetBlue which was traveling from Barbados.
At the moment that the flight was taxing across the runway, the horrifying fire broke out and airline crew members informed the pilot of what had taken place. This was an urgent need for evacuation.
While 60 passengers could be seen getting off the plane in a rush, the other 60 were forced to be evacuated by going through an emergency slide to speed up the process.
Clearly, this was a difficult process as time was of the essence and many feared for the worth after seeing the flames on board the flight.
Thankfully, the crew did manage to extinguish the fire after a while but some passengers did end up with minor injuries, as confirmed by local media outlets.
The injuries were linked to smoke inhalation and bruised elbows that arose while the passengers were trying to get off the flight, sources mentioned.
First responders did manage to get to the flight on time and hence began the rescue process in a swift manner. But it goes without saying that this was a major incident that could have led to fatal consequences if happened mid-flight.
