Former America’s Got Talent singer Jane ‘Nightbirde’ Marczewski has died six months after being forced to quit the show because of her cancer battle.
She was 31 years old.
A source told TMZ that the singer passed away after the disease had spread to her liver, lungs, and spine.
Marczewski wowed viewers and AGT judges when she sang an original titled ‘It’s Okay’ for her June audition.
Two months later, she shocked people again by saying that she had to quit as her health had ‘taken a turn for the worse.’
“Sharing my heart with the world on AGT has been an honor and a dream come true,” she wrote in her Instagram post. “My point of view this summer has been astounding. What a miracle that the pain I’ve walked through can be reworked into beauty that makes people all over the word open their eyes wider.”
She continued: “Since my audition, my health has taken a turn for the worse and the fight with cancer is demanding all of my energy and attention.
“I am so sad to announce that I won’t be able to continue forward on this season of AGT. Life doesn’t always give breaks to those that deserve it – but we knew that already.
“Thank you for all your support, it means the world to me. Stay with me, I’ll be better soon. I’m planning my future, not my legacy. Pretty beat up, but I’ve still got dreams.”
AGT judge Howie Mandel took to Twitter to pay tribute to the singer, saying she was “such a bright inspirational light in all our lives.”
He added: “We must continue to live and learn from her words and lyrics. As much as I feel horribly about her passing I feel lucky to to have met, heard and known her.”
Host Terry Crews took to Instagram and offered his condolences. Sharing a photo of Marczewski, he wrote: “We are saddened to learn about @_nightbirde‘s Passing. Our Condolences goes to her Closest Family & Friends in such of This difficult time. We Love you, Nightbirde.”
Judge Heidi also shared a photo of the singer on her Instagram Stories and wrote: “We love you. Rest in peace @_nightbirde.
It was in 2017 when Marczewski was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was already in remission when it returned in a metastatic state.
In 2019, she was told that she only had a two percent chance of survival. But she managed to beat the odds and was in remission when it returned in 2021.
