Actress Salma Hayek is opening up for the first time in regard to why she chose to breastfeed another woman’s baby.
The famous actress says she opted to make the decision based on the subject of humanity and she hopes people won’t judge her for it.
Hayek revealed how she was a part of the UN’s charity mission where UNICEF was on a mission to visit Sierra Leone.
At that time, the 56-year-old celeb had recently given birth to her baby girl named Valentina Paloma. But she never knew that she would end up feeding another child that was not even one of her own.
One visit to the west African country is all it took to impress Salma Hayek. She says that the experience was life-changing and so devastating at the same time. She came across one young girl at a hospital, shaking and crying.
Salma became worried and started to ask her what was wrong. And when looking at her newborn, the actress grew even more concerned. The woman had a newborn and she requested Salma Hayek to assist her.
Speaking in a heartbreaking tone, she needed the actress to give her milk because she was having difficulty producing her own.
“I desperate need milk, my baby is hungry”- the young 15-year-old went on to explain. And as you can imagine, Salma Hayek couldn’t refuse. She jumped right in to help this desperate woman and only another female would have been able to relate to the pain of a hungry child.
“I told her I got milk. I immediately sat down and started to feed her. This baby felt like one of my own and the gratitude I received for helping that young woman is something I’ll always cherish”- Salma Hayek concluded.
