A soon-to-be mother made headlines in the United Kingdom recently after the courts spared her jail, despite her major crime.
According to local media outlets, 24-year-old pregnant defendant Angelika Struckaja flew into a violent rage when a made named Mark Smith made a rather unwanted and sexually themed comment at her. The woman was reportedly going back towards her flat when the incident took place in Southport, Merseyside.
Being heavily pregnant, she was walking slowly towards her home when she encountered Mark. The situation got rather intense as the mum to be replied to the man, ‘eat my pus*y’ before she entered into her home. And that’s when she returned to face Mark, armed with a sharp kitchen knife.
She reportedly ran towards him and brutally stabbed him from the back. And that’s when a few moments later, paramedics rushed to the scene and airlifted Mark for emergency treatment at a nearby hospital.
After hearing the entire story from both sides, a court in Liverpool opted to spare the heavily pregnant defendant because her ‘due date was for this weekend.’ Therefore, she was free to go, walking out the dock with a huge smile across her face. She was captured embracing a male supporter while lifting two of her holdall bags.
Struckaja was given assistance by an interpreter from Lithuania while being allowed to sit and stand as per her free will since she was very pregnant.
Meanwhile, the court heard the drunken rage exchange in detail from a witness named Christopher Dunne who lives in a similar block of the apartment to where the defendant lives. It is still unclear as to what exactly Mark said to Struckaja that made her react in such a way as the court’s documents do not mention it. But it was clearly written how she stabbed him in his stomach but he managed to dodge the knife on that occasion.
However, on the second attempt, she hit the victim, stabbing him forcefully on the side, while continuing to attack him. And that’s when Mark barely managed to run away, shouting for help.
