A mother of 4 is slamming the officials at EasyJet Air for preventing her from breastfeeding her child in mid-flight.
According to media reports, Kelly Edgson-Payne says she wishes that airlines and their staff were more aware of the laws that govern breastfeeding. And the fact that they denied her from feeding a hungry baby that was just one year old blew her mind and so many others.
Kelly who hails from Rochester mentioned how she feels it is absolutely crazy when she was told that she just couldn’t feed her child during the plane’s take-off. “I feel disappointed because this was an airline that I loved and really trust. Therefore, I never expected them to behave like this, she added.
The mother went on to add how the laws in the United Kingdom claim that all nursing mothers are protected while the airlines’ own website claims to follow the same as its mentioned in their policy online.
“Mothers are welcomed to breastfeed their children at any time,” the website’s statement added. The mother feels that their messages are misleading and clearly show no consistency and that’s the reason why she is slamming the airlines for tricking passengers, especially those with young babies that need to be fed, mid-flight.
The mother says she was traveling from London towards Fuerteventura, alongside her husband recently and that’s when the shocking incident took place.
“I have never in my life had any problem with breastfeeding my other kids too,” Kelly went on to explain. But it was appalling for her to find out how EasyJet would only allow the mum to feed her child if she chose to do it in a discrete manner.
“After I got seated, I attempted to feed my son,” she adds. And that was the point during take-off where a male steward came running towards her and told her to stop as it was time for take-off. The mum says that she was in the middle of feeding him and that’s when he forced her to stop and put him down.
“I felt embarrassed and on the verge of breaking down into tears,” Kelly explained. Therefore, I quickly covered up myself. Kelly also spoke about how her own 9-year-old daughter was smart enough to mention, “Mummy they can’t stop you from breastfeeding.”
