In the UK, a mother who starved his own son to death, and left his body to rot in the crib for two years has been released from prison.
Amanda Hutton, 51, was sentenced to 15 years in 2013 for child negligence and a count of manslaughter when little Hamza Khan’s body was discovered clutching his favorite toy.
Hamza Khan, Hutton’s four-year-old son, was found wearing pajamas intended for a six to nine-month-old. He died of malnutrition.
According to the Ministry of Justice, Amanda was released seven years after serving her time in prison and will complete the remaining eight years in her 15-year sentence in a community.
“Offenders released on license face strict conditions and can be returned to prison at any time,” a spokesman for the Ministry of Justice said.
In 2013, Hutton, a mom-of-eight, was sentenced following the horrific discovery of his child’s rotten body covered in flies at her house in Bradford, West Yorks.
According to reports, five other children were living in the house at the time and had been subject to filthy conditions.
Officials were questioned back in 2013 over how Hutton’s family was allowed to sink so deeply into neglect.
Although Hutton’s family were known to a number of agencies including the police and social services, Bradford council admitted that none of them were on the “at-risk” list.
The Sun reported that a concerned neighbor alerted social services about Hutton’s house condition. And when the agency went to check the place, they discovered Hamzah’s rotting body.
The unnamed neighbor raised a complaint with social services about used diapers being thrown into his garden.
Disturbing pictures from inside Hutton’s home show piles of trash scattered everywhere.
The court says that Hutton was a known alcoholic, but she denied the idea that she cared more about drinking than looking after her children.
At the time, Hutton insisted that Hamzah, who was discovered to be seriously malnourished, had always just been a skinny kid.
Hutton had a strained relationship with Hamzah’s dad, Aftab Khan who also said that he alerted the police about the child’s welfare in 2008.
