A young mother has begged foreign officials to save her baby after the toddler got injured during the suicide bomb attack in Kabul.
23-month-old baby boy Muhammad Raza was reportedly with his father and grandfather outside the international airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, when an ISIS-K suicide bomber blew himself up nearby.
During the attack, the child’s father and British grandfather died while trying to protect their family.
According to The Sun, Muhammad’s mother, 19-year-old Basbibi, was allowed to pass through the airport security just moments before the explosion that killed at least 170 people.
Though she wanted to return to check on her baby after the blast, she was reportedly no longer allowed through the checkpoint and had to board the evacuation plane not knowing if her family had survived the ordeal or not.
After arriving in the UK, Basbibi found out that her baby had been critically injured and that doctors had to extract shrapnel that pierced his abdomen in order to save his life.
Following the dire discovery, the young mother began begging the authorities to help reunite her with her son.
“I am just desperate to be reunited with my baby. I am praying the British government can do something to bring him here and save him,” she said, The Sun reported.
“The rest of my surviving family too. I also have a five-month-old daughter still out there who was not injured.”
She added: “Words cannot explain what I’m feeling. I am still in shock from the bomb and have not eaten anything.
“All I can think about is getting Muhammad with me here to safety so he can get the best medical treatment. I am thankful to be alive but there is so much emotional pain and hurt to deal with.”
As of this writing, it is not clear to us what Muhammad’s situation is and whether or not he will be rescued and reunited with his mom.
