The incident takes place in Detroit, Michigan, where 7-year-old Mikaela’s hair was set on fire at Noble Elementary school according to the girl’s mother, Judy Holland.

As the upset mother insisted, a young boy had set Mikaela’s long tresses on fire with a lighter while she was standing in a line waiting to receive her lunch. The act was reportedly witnessed by Mikaela’s younger sister who’s attending kindergarten at the same institution.

After some of the 7-year-old’s hair was clearly burned off and damaged, the two allegedly girls went to seek help from a teacher only to be ordered to sit down because it was lunchtime.

Embarrassed by what had happened, Mikaela allegedly didn’t speak out about the incident to her mother, and Holland didn’t know her daughter’s hair was partially scorched until a worker at her daycare noticed the damage.

Following the incident, Holland lashed out at the school and suggested things could have turned out much worse if the fire in her daughter’s hair wasn’t put out right away.

“My baby could have third degree burns right now. I don’t want this to happen to any other kid,” she said.

The upset mother also appeared to question the second grader who allegedly burned her daughter’s hair and wonder how the child got into the possession of a lighter.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Public Schools Community District spokesperson insisted they couldn’t find any evidence supporting the mother’s claims.
