A 25-year-old mother has admitted that she kept the body of her 5-month-old son inside a crate in the wall of her new home after she moved it with her from her previous home.
Kylie Wilt from Pennsylvania revealed that her son had passed away in February 2021 but his body had been hidden inside a hole in the wall. She then fixed the wall and covered it with paint.
According to reports, the Child and Youth Services Department had been investigating her child after he was born with THC – the active ingredient in marijuana – in his system.
When staff from the Child and Youth Services Department visited her come to ask where her child was, she reportedly told them that her son was being watched by someone else in North Carolina.
However, she changed her story and told the agents that her son had died in February of sudden infant death syndrome.
The 25-year-old is now facing several charges, including abuse of a corpse and concealing the death of a child.
The 5-month-old boy’s father, Alan Hollis, is also charged with obstruction.
Wilt told officers that she became nervous when her son died so she decided to move to a new home with her boyfriend and her other kids.
But she took the baby’s body with them and hid it in a crate in the wall, saying she did not have enough money to pay for funeral expenses.
The cause of death is still under investigation.
Before the couple and the children moved, neighbor Robin Stasicha said that she heard the child crying ‘all the time.’
“All of a sudden, it didn’t one day and didn’t see them bringing him in and out and didn’t figure this is what happened,” Stasicha said.
“I was thinking, I’m here all the time. I never saw an ambulance. Wouldn’t you call 911 if your baby wasn’t responding to you?”
