A mother-of-two has shared how her ex-boyfriend adducted and tortured her over a text message.
36-year-old Giselle Shuken from Oak Park, California, revealed that her ‘jealous’ boyfriend of three months, 36-year-old David Crawford, locked her in the trunk of a car when he became paranoid she would cheat on him.
The mother-of-two said she endured an agonizing 12-hour ordeal at the hands of Crawford after he misinterpreted text messages he read on her phone.
Shuken said she was left in the trunk of the car in 100-degree heat for two hours before Crawford took her to her own house where he tortured her over the text messages.
The mother-of-two suffered multiple injuries, including a broken jaw, and she thought she’d never see her kids again.
Crawford was sent to jail but he got out only four months later after paying bail.
In another horrifying ordeal, Skuken said her ex-boyfriend kidnapped her again but she managed to talk to him after hours of pleading.
Speaking about the first abduction, the mother-of-two said that Crawford flew into rage after she had received a message from a friend about ‘a couple she went to high school with.’
“We were out throwing away some trash in a dumpster behind a building and he said, ‘Get in the trunk of the car or I’m going to kill you,’ and told me he had a gun,” Shuken recalled.
“So I got in the trunk of the car and he had my cell phone and my Apple Watch so I couldn’t communicate with anyone.
“It was about 100 degrees Fahrenheit when I was in the trunk, which is extremely hot and I almost died back there because it was so hot and I didn’t have access to air.”
“After that he took me back to my house which is where all the physical abuse started – he stabbed me in the forehead with a pen, burnt my face with cigarettes, bit my ear and choked me,” the mother-of-two continued.
“He held me up against the wall by my neck and he’s a lot bigger and taller than me so my feet were off the ground and then punched my jaw, like an uppercut, which caused my jaw to break.
“Then he filled up the bathtub and proceeded to hold my head under the water on and off for 15 minutes.”
She was left fearing she would never see her two young daughters again.
“I just kept thinking, ‘I’ve got to get out of here, I’ve got to survive this, I’ve got two babies, two little girls.’ They were five and seven at the time,” Shuken said.
“They have their dad but I’m their main support and I’ve got to make it out of here for them. They can’t grow up knowing their mom didn’t make it.
“I thought, ‘I just need to stay calm, don’t aggravate him more and just get through this day.’”
Shuken needed physical therapy 3 to 4 times a week for six months, as well as PT exercises and electro therapy.
But after only four months in jail, Crawford was allowed to post bail.
In July, he hired a rental car to kidnap her again as his obsession with the mother continued.
“I thought how can he just keep bailing out – how is he even allowed to get out, this person is a monster,” she added.
After 18 months of the mother living in fear, Crawford was finally arrested again for disobeying a court order. He was sentenced to 3 years in state prison and 48 hours of community service.
