A mother from Illinois is currently facing criminal charges after she left her five young children alone at home, ultimately leading to their death due to a sudden and tragic house fire.
All five young children lost their lives in the unfortunate incident that took place in the month of August of this year while the kids were all alone in their apartment.
The woman was identified as a 34-year-old mother of five named Sabrina M. Dunigan who hails from the eastern part of St. Louis. She was slapped with charges relating to endangering the lives of her five young kids as well as their health after she reportedly left them at home on August 6th.
A judge from the court of law has set the mother’s bail at $75,000 but reports have confirmed that the mother is yet to be in custody, as mentioned in her online records on Friday.
One investigator following the case spoke about how the mother endangered her own children’s lives, leaving such innocent little kids alone. “She knowingly put them in a situation that endangered their lives and their health,” he added.
The mother reportedly went out to pick up her boyfriend who was at work. Coincidently, it was also her birthday. However, to the mother’s horror, when she returned she saw how her whole house was up in flames.
Some recent reports have gone on to reveal how the mother even suffered burns to both her arms and feet as she made dire attempts to save her children. Unfortunately, her efforts went in vain as she just was not able to retrieve them.
Authorities have revealed that the woman’s father and his wife, who resided in the same building, had been assigned by the mom to look after her kids while she was gone but they happened to fall asleep.
