Moreover, as the body camera shows a white dot on Floyd’s tongue, it seems like he took Fentanyl and it was an overdose. This was the critical moment as the cops dragged him out and pulled him down. An officer named, Derek Chauvin, took a knee on his neck for 8-minutes straight which got him unconscious. While he was kneeling on his neck, Floyd kept saying ‘I can’t breath’ but nobody paid any heed to him.

Thomas Lane also said that it was the overdose of Fentanyl that did not let him breathe properly. Even if the cop did not take a knee at his neck, he would have found problems in breathing. He says it is the overdose that killed him.

Although, Lane did not murder Floyd he did not let him move to control his legs. In the interview, he said that Chauvin ordered him to take control of his legs. And he also said to not let him move. He also informed them that an ambulance was on its way.

As per Lane’s statement, ” That made sense to me, just because I’ve had experiences with people who are [overdosing] and they’ll be out one minute and they’ll come back and really, you know, be aggressive with me.

[…] I would say I felt like we maybe could handle it differently. Or we should be reassessing what we’re doing.”
