8000 South American migrant workers are on their way to the US border in hopes of gaining the shortest path to US citizenship.
One migrant who was amongst the strong caravan that is traveling through Central America towards the US mentioned how he was coming because Joe Biden is ‘going to help us all.’ According to media reports, the new president-elect will introduce an immigration bill that will reportedly take center stage from day one of his presidency.
Migrants make their way to the US border
In the same way, the immigration bill will also roll back upon a series of Trump’s administration’s anti-immigration policies. This includes a massive path of citizenship for up to 11 million people. Moreover, it will cover all the migrants living in the country illegally.
However, a pledge made earlier by Biden revolved around suspending deportations for up to 100 days, after he takes command. Hence, this is what seems to be motivating the caravan to reach in time.

In addition, the migrant worker talked about how he and other travelers fled Honduras due to a ‘bad situation.’ This compounded with the COVID-19 pandemic as well as a series of hurricanes, made the situation worse. He also added how the President of the country refused to help his own people.
For this reason, they are coming to the US with greater hopes for a brighter and more prosperous future. This includes a better life for kids and families too, he went on adding.
Troops clash away from the US border
On the other hand, reports confirmed how Guatemalan troops tried to prevent the migrant caravan from reaching the US. Moreover, a clash also broke out where police began beating the crowd using batons as well as tear gas. On that note, Biden pleaded with the crowds to go back to their homelands.
From day one, the new president-elect plans to introduce a ground-breaking immigration policy that gives 11 million people in the US a shorter path to attaining citizenship. Only time can tell how successful it really turns out to be.
All eyes on Biden and his new policies
With all eyes on Joe Biden and his new administration, many people are waiting for the list of changes that the new president-elect promised the nation. After taking oath recently, the President didn’t spare a minute. Instead, he headed straight to the Oval office. And that’s where he sent out his first Tweet.
Certainly, Biden had one thing on his mind. And that included reversing 15 of Trump’s executive orders. Therefore, whatever changes the former President made- Biden will reverse them all. And at the top of the list was the halt to a wall construction at the US border with Mexico. In addition, he made it a point to put an end to the controversial Muslim ban while making masks mandatory in Federal buildings too.
Undoubtedly, President Biden has a series of challenges that await him. And this migrant crisis seems to be at the top of the list.
