A man dressed as the Joker sparked terror on the subway after stabbing multiple people and spraying acid on passengers.
The terrifying incident involving a maniac dressed as the Batman villain took place in Tokyo, Japan, where a 24-year-old man started attacking people with a knife and spraying acid on passengers “without showing any emotion.”
According to the local reports, the knifeman dressed as the Joker stabbed at least 10 commuters and sprayed acid on fellow passengers.
He reportedly also set one of the train cars on fire after pouring oil all over the cabin while people were still in it.
As the Tokyo Fire Department revealed, a total of 17 people were injured during the incident.
In photos and footage from the scene, people are seen running away from the knifeman and escaping the train through doors and windows.
After the police arrived at the scene, they arrested the knifeman who was calmly smoking a cigarette after his heartless attack.
As reported by Kyodo, the man insisted he “wanted to kill people” so that he would “be given the death penalty.”
Meanwhile, witnesses recalled the harrowing attack and the time they were forced to run for their lives.
“He held a knife and started spreading liquid. He was committing this act without showing any emotion, just mechanically. I think that brought fear to everyone,” one female passenger said, NHK reported.
Another witness spoke to Yomiuri newspaper to recall seeing blood dripping off the attacker’s long knife.
“I thought it was a Halloween stunt. Then, I saw a man walking this way, slowly waving a long knife,” he said.
