A 60-year-old man could face whipping or 20 years in prison if he is found guilty of sleeping with a goat.

Shaari Hasan from Malaysia was charged after the owner heard the animal making strange noises.

When she went to check on her goat, she was shocked to see the man next to the animal, according to Free Malaysia Today.

The 60-year-old immediately fled the scene but the poor animal was found lifeless. The carcass was taken to a veterinary service department for a post-mortem examination and the owner filed a complaint with the police.

According to reports, the man was caught behind a house in Kampung Sungai Buaya in Rawang at around 1:30 pm.

Hasan pleaded guilty when judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza read out the charge, Detik reported.

But when he was presented with evidence, brown trousers and a green t-shirt that were taken from him when he was taken into custody, Hasan said that the items were not his.

The judge then said that not admitting to evidence made his guilty plea unacceptable.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Khadijah Amir Hamdzah also opposed bail for the offense.

But the widower’s attorney Zolazrai Zolkapli said that the offense is bailable and that Hasan should be able to walk away depending on the results of the trial.

Hasan is set to return to court next month.
