Madonna has been slammed for exposing her backside while recreating Marilyn Monroe’s death bed scene.

The 63-year-old songstress was seen lying face down on a mattress showing her backside while another photo shows prescription pill bottles on a nightstand.

Fans on social media were quick to express their disgust, with one writing: “This isn’t cool. Glamorizing suicide is the only takeaway once the shock factor wears off.”

Pop culture expert Mike Sington wrote: “For some morbid and eerie reason, Madonna decides to re-create Marilyn Monroe’s death bed.”

Another commented: “This makes me queasy. Seems to me in bad taste.”

Photographer Steven Klein said he was inspired by Bert Stern’s series The Last Sitting, which is believed to be the last photo shoot that Monroe sat for before her tragic death.

Monroe was found lifeless in her Brentwood, California home on August 4, 1962, and is said to have overdosed on sedative drugs.

Klein recreated the iconic shoot with Madonna as she laid face down with a cross on her back.

The singer, who is promoting her new documentary Madame X, also displayed her chest while her bodyguards surrounded her.

In an introduction, Klein explained that he and Madonna were not “interested in re-creating the images exactly,” but they wanted to “capture the liaison between a star and the camera, the mystery, and magic of this creative collaboration.”

One person commented: “Woman, you’re in your sixties. Stop trying to be in your 30’s. It doesn’t suit you.”

Another wrote: “That’s so out of order and disrespectful towards Marilyn Monroe’s death…. What’s next? Maybe dressing of Elvis for a bathroom death scene… Smh. Its not cool.”

A third added: “Totally fake, she looks like someone aged 25-35 in those photos, sadly just someone with very talented photoshop or video editing skills or deep fake video.”
