Kylie Jenner has defended her boyfriend Travis Scott and insisted that he had no idea that eight people died during the Astroworld Festival chaos until after the show.
The 24-year-old reality star, who is expecting her second child, sent her ‘deepest condolences’ to the grieving families of the people who tragically died during the stampede.
“Travis and I are broken and devastated. My thoughts and prayers are with all who lost their lives, were injured or affected in anyway by yesterday’s events,” Kylie said in a statement.
“I want to make it clear we weren’t aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing,” Kylie continued.
“I am sending my deepest condolences to all the families during this difficult time and will be praying for the healing of everyone who has been impacted.”
The self-made billionaire was reportedly unharmed after attending the festival that left many people hospitalized.
Speaking to People magazine, a source said: “Everyone is shocked and upset. Kylie and Kendall were in the audience, but they are not injured. Travis won’t be performing tonight. The concert is canceled.”
According to reports, Scott was filmed continuing to perform even after eight festivalgoers were crushed to death.
A heartbreaking video showed an unconscious man being taken to a medical assistance area after he collapsed in the chaos, which occurred after concertgoers surged towards the stage at around 9:15 pm.
More than 20 people were taken to a hospital, including a 10-year-old fan.
Of those who were taken to a hospital, 11 were in cardiac arrest, the Houston Fire Department reported.
Even though Scott managed to finish his 75-minute performance, he was filmed calling for help for the visitors.
