It’s a major victory for emergency workers in the United Kingdom after the Government recently spoke about how it plans on introducing the new ‘Harper’s Law’.
According to local media reports, the new law will soon come into place and that means tough punishment for those who plan on killing anyone hailing from the emergency services squad. This includes firemen, paramedics, police officers, and medics on duty.
The legal change has been termed a huge victory for the widow of hero PC Andrew Harper that was reportedly killed when he made an attempt to respond to a burglary.
30-year-old Lissie Harper was left feeling outraged when the trio who caused her brave husband’s death was only given a sentence of 13 years while smirking at the dock.
But with the new Harper’s law in place, it now appears that those who indulge in such crimes will go on to receive death sentences.
The new change will soon be making its way on the statute book as early as next year, confirmed authorities after the amendment regarding it is passed.
Today, Justice Secretary Dominac Rabb paid tribute to the widow, adding how she really suffered a huge burning sense of injustice for the crime that happened to her beloved husband.
“I pay tribute to Lissie’s determination to change the law so that other families who unfortunately have to go through the same tragedy can now get their share of justice,” he went on to add.
In the same way, he also spoke about how devoted Lissie was in standing by her campaign for nearly 15 months, which is definitely a remarkable act indeed.
What are your thoughts on the new Harper’s Law being introduced in the United Kingdom? Do you approve or not?
