The Most Controversial of all the JK Rowling Tweets
Finally, we have the most recent ‘controversial’ tweets that accuse J.K Rowling, as always, of transphobia. On June 6th, 2020, Rowling commented on an op-ed about healthcare inequality. The phrase says “people who menstruate”. To which she wrote:
“People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there is a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”
And the further, Rowling tweeted:
“If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the live reality of women globally is near the end. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It doesn’t hate to speak the truth.”
She further added:
“I respect every trans person’s right to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them. I’d march with you if you face discrimination against on the basis of being trans. At the same time, my life is in shape by being female. I do not believe it’s hateful to say so.”
