Actor Eric Baldwin has reportedly shot and killed a cinematographer on the set of his new film titled Rust.
According to local media reports, the actor was in possession of a prop firearm which he was carrying to record his new scene. But out of the blue, the actor mistakenly discharged the weapon during his scene.
The victim was none other than the famed director of photography Halyna Hutchins, a 42-year-old with years of experience in the cinema industry. She died immediately due to the effects of the injury.
The incident took place at the Bonanza Creek Ranch which is located in Santa Fe in New Mexico. But she was not the only person injured during the tragedy. Recent reports also went on to claim that famed writer and director Joel Souza was also critically injured in the act.
The 68-year-old actor is beyond speechless and numb after the incident and is reported to have entered into a state of shock after firing the prop gun by mistake. Reports claim that the actor somehow unintentionally fired in a projectile or perhaps a projectile’s direction at the crew members present at the scene.
A recent statement was provided by the Sheriff’s department in Santa Fe regarding the matter, sparking shock across the entire Hollywood fraternity.
Right after the incident, the actor was seen breaking down into tears while appearing dazed as he entered the sheriff’s office today.
68-year-old Baldwin is not only an actor but is also the co-producer for the movie. In the movie, the star plays a notorious and infamous character who goes by the name Rust. Surprisingly, his grandson is convicted for carrying out accidental murder.
At the moment, it’s still unclear as to whether or not the prop gun was loaded with bullets or whether or not there was gunpowder present inside that resulted in the launching of debris of some type from a barrel.
Currently, no criminal charges have been filed against the actor as investigations into the horrifying case continue.
