A heartless dad has been jailed after reportedly leaving his toddler in a burning vehicle to die, right after an intense police chase.
The father from South Carolina has been identified as 28-year-old Imhotep Norman of Spartanburg who received his sentencing this Tuesday. For the horrific crime, the father will now spend 28 years in jail as reported by local media outlets.
The dad pleaded guilty to the crime of homicide and child abuse as well as a failure to stop for the cops when ordered to do so for overspeeding.
Similarly, he was slapped with more charges relating to drug possession and usage during the year 2019 as revealed by authorities.
His daughter, little Xena Norman passed away tragically, thanks to her father’s careless and horrifying behavior.
The dad reportedly left his home with his child, driving across Highway 14, and then reaching on to I-85, which ended in hot pursuit with cops, after smoke and fire began to emit from his vehicle.
Officers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol made dire attempts to try and get the father to pull over and stop speeding but he refused to acknowledge them in any shape or form. Instead, he further sped his burning vehicle for miles.
Soon, the father had no option but to pull over, after which he ran out of his burning vehicle, leaving his little toddler alone to die.
The dad fled into the woods carrying a giant backpack that was full of nothing but drugs while his helpless daughter lay alone and was soon burned to death.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene and after they doused off the flames, only then were they able to recover the burned remains of the little child’s body.
Norman was soon caught by the cops, a few hours later, authorities confirmed.
