It’s another heartbreak for team USA in this year’s Tokyo Olympics after superstar gymnast Simone Biles was reportedly pulled out from the competition.
The 24-year-old superstar was all set to lead her team USA toward a gold medal in the event final but things didn’t quite go as planned. Moreover, she shocked plenty of fans when it was recently announced how she made a shocking error on the vault.
This comprised of a major mistake which ended up in her executing a rather simple skill than originally anticipated. And in the end, that cost her a very low score which consisted of just 13.766.
Simone Biles was originally scheduled to perform a signature Yurchenko vault which consists of around two and a half twists. But that was far from what she managed to achieve. Instead, the 24-year-old was forced to bail out at the last second, performing a total of one and a half twists.
In the same way, it was sad to see how her knees buckled towards the landing position, forcing her body to lean forward towards her mat. While she did avoid falling over totally, it was definitely not a position that any gymnast would aim for at the Olympics.
Right after her vault, the gymnast was observed leaving the stadium with her trainer as well as a member of the medics by her side. Many feared for the worst, suspecting how she may have endured a major injury during her landing.
However, she did manage to return to the stadium’s floor but it was soon revealed how she would no longer be competing as she was pulled out due to a mental issue.
This greatly reduced the country’s chances to defeat Team Russia who managed to come out on top with a gold medal. Without a doubt, the sudden pull-out resulted in the devastating defeat which many are terming as a double blow at the Olympics.
