Horrifying reports coming in from Afghanistan have gone on to reveal how one family has sold their beautiful baby girl to help feed the rest of her starving siblings.
But this is certainly not the first alarming case to come out in public as many other locals claim that the act is slowly becoming a norm as families have nowhere to go and no money to earn. In addition, they reveal how desperate times are calling out for desperate measures and the situation appears to be worsening as we speak.
Ever since the Taliban takeover recently, many believe the country is destined for ruins with the economy in shatters.
For this reason, so many Afghan families are taking part in selling their kids in a desperate bid to get money and feed the rest of their families.
Similarly, foreign reports also spoke about how so many child brides were becoming a norm, as parents struggle to financially support their ever-growing households.
This recent story was captured by a reporter from BBC named Yogita Limaye who says she recently traveled to a village located outside the Herat district to speak to a mother that was shattered in despair.
She revealed how she had no choice but to sell her infant daughter for nearly $500 just so the family could earn some quick cash and pay for their food as well as fulfill their other children’s needs.
Moreover, she even revealed how the buyer was a man who stated his wishes to raise their daughter and then marry her off to his son. Similarly, she revealed how there were zero guarantees for the unnamed man’s intentions.
“We will use the $250 to pay for food that will last for a few months. And then when he gives the second installment, we shall make use of it again to fulfill our children’s needs,” the mother revealed in a crying tone.
“My young kids are dying in hunger and we have no other choice but to sell my daughter,” she explained.
With reports like these, it’s quite evident how the future of Afghanistan appears grim with many locals hoping for nothing less than a miracle to change their current state of despair around.
