Prince Harry and Meghan Markle considered naming the royal racist who questioned Archie’s skin color before birth, reports claimed.
An updated edition ‘Finding Freedom’ states that Harry and Meghan weighed up on ‘sharing this detail’ in their bombshell TV interview with Oprah Winfrey last March.
However, Meghan ultimately told Oprah that revealing the royal’s name would be ‘very damaging to them’.
In a leaked epilogue of the updated edition of the couple’s biography, the book states a series of claims about the Sussexes, the state of their current relationship with the Royal Family, and the Oprah interview fallout.
The epilogue reveals that a source told book authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand that Meghan and Harry had considered naming the individual but had eventually decided not to.
It also stated that the ‘sources close to the Sussexes’ claimed that the Royal Family’s reaction to the allegations made by Harry and Meghan ‘was not positive’.
In the updated Finding Freedom edition, the authors wrote that the ‘unaddressed’ allegations ‘have continued to threaten the Royal Family’s image around the world’ and ‘could no doubt bring down the monarchy’.
The book also claimed that while emotions within the Royal Family were still ‘raw’ over the Oprah interview, a source close to the couple said that their intervention could ‘force people to talk in order for the healing to begin’.
“There has to be some acknowledgment of understanding about what the Sussexes went through in order for there to be progress,” the source said.
On the allegations of racism, the book criticized the fact that the Buckingham Palace response that the phrase ‘recollections may vary’ in the official statement simply meant ‘full ownership was not taken’.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan have repeatedly insisted that they had not offered any co-operation on the book, Mail Online reported.
Their lawyers have also distanced themselves from Finding Freedom, describing it as unauthorized, and saying the authors ‘do not speak for our clients and seem to rely on unnamed sources’.
Scobie and Durand have also confirmed that the biography is ‘independent and unauthorized,’ adding that the couple did not speak to them about its contents.
But according to Mail Online, the book authors are both seen as being close to the Sussexes.
The updated edition of Finding Freedom, with a new epilogue, is due to be released on August 31, the 24th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.
