Pair from Ecuador bestowed as world’s oldest couple
A couple from the country of Ecuador is receiving quite a bit of attention. Moreover, they’ve got Guinness World Records to thank for their massive fame.
Yes, the stunning pair is going above and beyond all others when it comes to love. And with around eight decades of marriage, it’s definitely an achievement.
Meet Julio Cesar Mora and his beautiful wife, Waldramina Quintero. They might look like every other ordinary pair but they’re special in their own right. For them, love is beyond a mere number. Together, they have a total age of about 214 years, 358 days. If that’s not eye-catching, then we’re not quite sure what is.
The very much in love pair met during the 1930s. And since then, they simply can’t get their eyes and hands off of one another.
Problems come and go but love stays forever
Meeting up 1934 and marrying each other six years later- you’d probably assume it was a dreamy fairytale. But that’s definitely not the case here.
Yes, the world’s oldest couple explains how their love story had a rough start. It was a very rocky road to the actual wedding day. Meanwhile, the couple explains how both sides had plenty of issues with their relationship.
And with disapproving families nearby, it’s really hard to make a wedding successful.
But as the old saying goes, love truly conquers all. And this case is no exception. While both sides refused to attend the wedding ceremony, it still went on. But how exactly did it all take place?
One beautiful thing led to another
For starters, how was the world’s oldest couple introduced? Well, we’ve got Julio’s cousin to thank for that. You can think of it as a guardian angel that plays cupid and all matters fell into place, seamlessly.
Julio’s cousin was originally married to Wadramina’s cousin. They introduced the pair to one another, who dated for around six years. Finally, the lovebirds tied the knot on February 7th, 1941. The wedding was held in Quito, but it wasn’t exactly the grandest affair.
Meanwhile, the couple explains how the happiest day of their life actually took place in secret. It was a very small scale and private affair. And believe it or not, the guest list solely comprised of their Godparents.
Since both sides had families who opposed the marriage, they refused to attend the ceremony. But again, that didn’t mean the wedding wouldn’t go forward. It still took place, but on secret terms.

Above all, both husband and wife had very successful teaching careers. They have 5 beautiful kids, of which the eldest passed away sadly. In total, they share 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren as well as 9 great-great-grandchildren.
While they do have disagreements at times, they shield it from their kids. Somehow, they manage to put it all behind. At the same time, they believe consideration, respect, and a lot of compassion goes a long way for successful matrimony.
