“Even when I spoke to her this morning on the phone, she said to me, ‘Tell them to just glue me back together,’” the 11-year-old’s uncle, Ryan Kohnke, said in an interview with The Sun.

“I grabbed my two children and we ran down there, I’m a veteran myself and it was like a war zone. There were bodies all over, people were just trying to help as much as they could. I just wanted to get the younger kids out of there so that’s what I did.”

Following the Waukesha carnage, Jessalyn’s family started a GoFundMe page to help the girl’s mother pay for her medical bills.

“This girl, along with all my other children, they are my world. Trying to stay strong is not even close to what the last 30+ hours have been for me. No child or parent should have to endure this amount pain and suffering,” Jessalyn’s mom, Amber, wrote on the page.
