A little girl passed away from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a caravan park.
The tragic incident took place in Lincolnshire, England, where 2-year-old Louisiana Brooke Dolan was staying at the Sealands Holiday Home Park together with her mom and three other kids.
On August 23, a massive fire erupted at the family’s caravan and little Louisiana died of smoke inhalation. According to the reports, the other three kids and the toddler’s mother survived the incident.
“Sadly we were unable to establish a visual identification of the deceased. Samples were taken from a family member for DNA profiling. These have been compared against samples taken at post-mortem and consequently identity was confirmed,” Jacqui Foxlow of the coroner’s office confirmed during the inquest.
“We have a provisional conclusion as ‘inhalation of the products of combustion’ which is pending toxicology and histology,” she added of the little girl’s cause of death.
The inquest also heard how the final report is due in a few weeks even though further tests could take several months to finish.
As of this writing, it remains unclear what caused the fire at the caravan park. As seen in the photos from the scene of the accident, however, the fire completely destroyed the caravan the family was staying in.
While the case remains under investigation, a GP and local authorities, including Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and East Midlands Ambulance Service, have requested reports.
