A 10-year-old girl tragically died after a huge rock crashed through the windshield of her family’s truck and hit her in the head.
Kambrie Horsley from Idaho was sitting in the passenger’s seat when another truck driving nearby dislodged the four-inch rock.
The rock then hit the family’s vehicle and struck the young girl in the head.
Kambrie’s dad, Brad Horsley, rushed his daughter to the hospital for treatment. She was later transferred to Primary Children’s Hospital in Utah where she passed away.
Authorities tracked down the other truck’s driver who said he was not aware that his vehicle dislodged a four-inch rock.
Officials told the Idaho State Journal that they have deemed the girl’s death a tragic accident.
“Words cannot describe the shock and sadness that we all feel,” the grieving family wrote in Kambrie’s obituary.
“We will miss her terribly, but we find peace knowing she is with her Father in Heaven and those family members beyond the veil.”
The family said that the 10-year-old girl was “full of life and love and always up for an adventure.”
“She brought such joy to us all and there is a hole in our family until we get her back. She was simply the perfect little girl,” her obituary continues.
She loved animals and all sports, including surfing and skiing.
“Our hearts are broken but, we know she would want us to celebrate the wonderful life we had with her. Every day was a gift, and we can’t wait until we are reunited with our sweet, spunky, happy, driven little angel.”
Kambrie is survived by her parents, Kristen and Brad, and five siblings: Jordyn, Hallie, Blakely, Kyler, and Ethan.
