A young girl who was chained by her ‘evil parents’ has shared the moment she finally saw the outside world for the first time.
Jordan Turpin was 17 when she called 911, asking for help to free her 12 siblings from the hands of her ‘sick and twisted parents.’
The teen managed to escape from their home in California and told the police that she and her other siblings were locked by their parents Louis and Davis Turpin.
In an interview with ABC, Jordan said she ‘didn’t know about the sidewalks’ when she first walked outside after fleeing the house.
“You’re supposed to be on the sidewalk but I’d never been out there,” she said, adding that she found it difficult to dial 911 as she was shaking a lot.
“I think it was us coming close to death so many times. It was literally a now or never,” Jordan continued. “If something happened to me, at least I died trying.”
Speaking to the dispatcher, Jordan said: “Um hello? I just ran away from home because I live in a family of 15. OK? Can you hear me? And we have abusing parents. Did you hear that?”
She also described how her parents would pull out her siblings’ hair and throw them around the room.
Jordan’s sister Jennifer also said that the ‘only word’ she could use to describe their situation is ‘hell.’
The children lived off peanut butter sandwiches while their parents enjoyed takeaway meals. Their parents also did not let them exercise and tormented them by leaving out pumpkin and apple pies.
Louise, 50, and David, 57, were sentenced to 25 years behind bars for the abuse and imprisonment of their children.
