A gay couple was brutally attacked on the top deck of a London night bus. Moreover, they were left covered in blood. But how did the event take place in the first place?
Two women claim that a group of harassers, comprising of four young men, targeted them. And according to them, it looked as if they had a problem with the fact that they were gay.

Suddenly, a group of young harassers came out from nowhere. When they found out about the couple’s relationship, they started calling them out.

And when they refused, the boys started to attack them. The nature of the violence was so severe that it left them covered in blood. Likewise, the couple claims that this is the first time ever that they experienced such a brutal attack. Was the violence justified? Does their sexuality give others the right to inflict such behavior?
Soon, people started raising questions about London’s laws for equality. After all, it is one of the world’s top metropolitan cities.
Gay couple says they have experienced ‘a lot of verbal violence’
In relation to their nightmare bus attack, the couple spoke on BBC radio about the entire aftermath. And their words left many in tears.
Ms. Geymonat explained how they previously experienced ‘a lot of verbal violence.’ But this was their first-hand experience with physical violence. She went on to describe the gruesome incident:
“The boys gathered around us and started using very abusive things. Some of the things were related to sexual nature, lesbians, sexual positions. They wanted us to kiss so that they could enjoy watching us.”
Melania said her partner Chris didn’t understand what was going on as she didn’t speak English. So she decided to lighten up the scene with her jokes.
She even acted like she was sick. And that’s when the boys threw coins at them. Meanwhile, things got really serious all of a sudden. They dragged Chris towards the bus’s center and threw punches at her face too.
When Melania went to save her partner, the boys began punching her too. And she was bleeding profusely.
London harassers arrested while couple refuses to back down
While the entire episode is heart-wrenching, the couple refuses to back away. They are furious, yet refuse to bow down to other’s wishes. Similarly, the couple says that they will continue to hold hands in public.
Meanwhile, police officials arrested the harassers involved in the event. The entire ordeal sent major shockwaves across the entire United Kingdom. And it wouldn’t be incorrect to say how many are describing it as ‘disgusting.’
Melania and Chris received emergency medical aid from a nearby hospital, post the event. Most of their injuries were related to the face.
UK’s Prime Minister, Theresa May, also commented on the event with:
“This was the most sickening attack and my thoughts are with the affected couple.”
