The father who killed his daughter’s 19-year-old boyfriend because he allegedly sold her to human trafficking may be lying, police said.
60-year-old John Eisenman has been charged with first-degree murder after he took the life of Andrew Sorensen, whose rotting body was discovered in an abandoned car.
He is being held at Spokane County Jail with the bond set at $1 million.
Sorensen’s grieving family claimed that Eisenman is ‘no hero.’
His parents said their son, who was born with cerebral palsy and autism, is being demonized by the 60-year-old and his family.
“Our son had an IQ of 81,” the teen’s mother, Theresa Sorensen, said. “If anybody could be taken advantage of, it was him.”
The grieving mom said that her son and his girlfriend had been long-term friends and it was ‘painful’ to hear the horrific details of their son’s death.
“We didn’t get to tell our side of the story,” Theresa expressed. “Because there is so much more out there about all of this that needs to come out.”
The family released a statement on Tuesday and revealed their hope to see their son again.
“We spent a year searching for him and hoping he would return. Claims by his confessed killer have been very hurtful and only added to our family’s grief.
“The word ‘alleged’ means of an incident without proof. It has already been reported: Both the FBI and Washington State Patrol said there is no sex trafficking investigation into the victim.”
A spokesperson for the Spokane Police Department, Cpl. Nick Briggs, said the claims of Sorensen’s involvement in human trafficking are coming only from the 60-year-old father.
Speaking to Spokesman-Review, Briggs said: “We can’t corroborate the veracity of any of those statements.”
He said that the investigation is ongoing.
