A young mother tragically passed away just weeks after giving birth to a healthy baby girl via emergency C-section.
22-year-old Aimee ‘Jaqueline’ Ayala from Texas couldn’t wait to become a mother and start a family with her husband, Juan Pablo Morales Orozco.
On November 7, when the young lady was already eight months pregnant, Aimee tested positive for Covid-19 after suffering from symptoms of the virus.
Just days after her diagnosis, the 22-year-old was admitted to the hospital where she successfully gave birth to baby Addison Mariand Morales on November 13.
Sadly, the mom’s condition continued to deteriorate in the days after the emergency C-section and she died from Covid-19 complications on November 30.
“As weeks went by she just got worse and then she went into cardiac respiratory arrest. She could breathe her heart stopped,” Kimberly Ayala, Aimee’s sister, said in an interview with KTSM.
Due to the nature of her condition, the newly-become mother was never able to hold her baby daughter in her arms. Expressing her “despair and depression” over not being able to see her daughter, Aimee had shared a touching Facebook post just days before her condition worsened and claimed her life.
“Knowing she never got to hold her, that was the worst part. She loved her so much we know she did because she gave her life for her,” Kimberly added.
Following the 22-year-old’s premature passing, her sister started a GoFundMe page and dubbed Aimee a “beautiful” and selfless person who “fought for the lives of babies.”
“Although she could not hold her baby in her arms, she shows us the love of a mother for her baby. She gave everything for the life of her baby,” she wrote.
Speaking out about the ordeal was also Aimee’s husband, Juan Pablo Morales Orozco, who said his daughter has been his rock since the tragic death.
“I’ve been able to take her home, hold her and sleep with her. She has been a strength… she’s the one carrying me instead of me carrying her,” the grieving husband said.
Our thoughts are with Aimee’s family and friends during these challenging times.
