A woman from Kansas has received a jail sentencing of 31 years after being found guilty of murdering her boyfriend’s daughter.
34-year-old Jacqulyn Kirkpatrick will now serve the long sentence in prison after the jury found her guilty of playing a key role in the killing of her lover’s 3-year-old daughter in the year 2020.
The accused pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder as well as abuse of a young child under six years of age, followed by two counts relating to interference with law enforcement officials.
She was arrested in July of 2020, alongside her lover named Howard Jansen who is 29 years old. This was right after authorities found the remains of the young child named Olivia Jansen.
Police mentioned at the time of the tragic findings how the toddler was reportedly beaten in a bad manner after the remains were seen in a shallow grave, after her own dad reportedly her as missing in July 2020.
The accused has been given the maximum jail term that has been allowed by her plea deal which will reportedly have her testify against Jansen.
Meanwhile, local media outlets claim that the father’s trial will only begin after he receives a date from the court.
Prosecutors mentioned how Olivia happened to be locked inside a dog kennel at her own residence. But the torture-filled acts did not stop there as her dad and his girlfriend even forced the young toddler to stand for long periods in a corner, followed by severe beatings as well.
On the other hand, the child’s grandparents had gone on to express their great concerns on the matter, especially in relation to the child’s well-being towards the police as well as those in charge of the state’s Department for Children and Families, right before she tragically died.
