A bizarre family affair has arisen in Ireland where a nephew who took his dead uncle with him to collect his pension claims that he thought he was still alive.
The man traveled with his uncle’s corpse all the way to the post office so he would be able to collect his pension on time. But now, he says that he had no idea that his uncle was dead, this whole time.
40-year-old Declan Haughney insisted and began to get emotional when he was reportedly accused of robbing his dead relative, 66-year-old Peadar Doyle. Witnesses claim that the nephew and another unidentified individual literally dragged the dead man all the way to the post office for money.
Although the journey from the home to the office was not too long, many were beyond horrified to see them dragging the corpse for financial gains.
The horrifying incident took place last week on Friday in Hoseys in Ireland.
Now, the 40-year-old nephew alleges that he is the talk of the town and has even gone as far as being labeled as a murderer for no reason as he believes that he is innocent and had nothing to do with his relative’s sudden death.
“People think I am a thief as I previously stole from my aunt. But that’s definitely not the case here. I was not robbing him of his money,” the man started to explain.
“I am not a child or a young fellow. I am 40 years old, why would I rob my elderly uncle who was dead. Do you think I have lost it? I am not mad,” he kept on repeating.
The accused has previously suffered from drug problems and has even served two years in jail. And with that history behind him, thorough investigations into the bizarre matter are currently taking place by the police.
