A beautiful family has tragically passed away while hiking in California.
45-year-old Jonathan Gerrish and his 31-year-old wife Ellen Chung took their one-year-old daughter and pet dog on a remote hiking trail but little did they know that the journey would cost them their lives.
According to local media reports, the couple who hails from Britain were all found dead after news agencies revealed how they all made attempts to save their baby girl, before falling to their own death.
The exact location of the horrifying incident was identified by authorities to be the renowned Sierra National Forrest trail.
A recent report sent out by detectives spoke about how they believed the couple tried to save their child, before plunging to their death soon afterward.
“Sadly, I am sure that they were all caught off guard because once they realized the situation, they died trying to save their baby and one another,” added another survival expert who happened to be following the case.
“It’s most likely that the child succumbed first, which alerted the parents, and that’s when they tried to hurry their efforts up the dangerous hill.
“When one of them could no longer continue, they tried to stay behind so they could look after their child and the pet dog as the other made attempts to forge on and get assistance for their loved ones,” he added, revealing that this is certainly a tragedy of the greatest order.
Some detectives had a number of theories surrounding the case, including how some believed the family was possibly struck by lightning, poisoning, or even a suicide attack.
But now, experts have confirmed that the family died from both dehydration and hyperthermia, adding how the pet passed away from a heart-related cause of death.
