A mother has reportedly been accused of taking her young son’s life by forcing him to freeze to death outside the family home.
According to local media reports, 39-year-old Laura Heath appeared in front of the court via a video link, ahead of her manslaughter trial which is scheduled to take place in Birmingham’s Crown Court.
The mother appeared for her trial’s pre-hearing through virtual means from HMP Peterborough.
Horrifying details regarding the case have gone on to reveal how the mother not only killed her own 7-year-old son named Hakeem, but she is also guilty of gross negligence, along with manslaughter.
While she may have pleaded not guilty previously in regards to her negligence with the child, the matter has been turned and now the mother faces more charges after paramedics reportedly discovered her child outside her home on Cook Street in November.
But the mother still denies all the accusations and charges that have been slapped upon her, adding how she never behaved with her son in a cruel manner.
The court has revealed how the trial will begin in the month of March where at least 50 witnesses are scheduled to prove evidence in the tragic manslaughter trial.
During today’s hearing which reportedly lasted nearly 19 minutes, the mother appeared to be seated all alone wearing a grey-toned Nike sweatshirt.
She gave a double thumbs up to the camera and confirmed that she was the defendant.
Authorities have also revealed how the mother previously attended another hearing where was accused of poorly handling her son’s asthmatic condition by failing to provide him with appropriate medication, twice daily.
In addition to that, she also failed to seek professional medical help when his asthma symptoms couldn’t be controlled.
