A family was left devastated after a grieving young father took his own life only weeks after the sudden death of his dad.
The lifeless body of 29-year-old Nicky Larkin was found near a stable in Bridgend where his daughter was learning to ride horses.
The bereaved family said he died on October 23 after his father passed away, according to Wales Online.
Nicky’s mother, Julie Larkin, said that her husband was found dead at his bungalow in Bridgend. He passed away at the age of 64.
The grieving mother said her son was “the most loving, hardworking man who adored his children.”
“It’s been heartbreaking for our whole family, we’re in bits,” she expressed.
“Roy was a good father to Nicky and a good partner to me for 37 years. I was still with him when he died,” Julie went on.
The heartbroken mother said while Nicky had depression and had been coping with his struggles before his dad’s sudden death.
She revealed that her son has not been right ever since his father died.
“He did have mental health issues and they worsened after that. I wasn’t worried about him before Roy died,” she added.
Nick often walked by the farm with his wife and children and there was no sign he would end his life before he was found lifeless near the farm.
“He went there most weeks, he’d walk up usually, he was happy there,” Julie said, adding his son was a happy go lucky man who loved his children and his family.
Family friends Stevie Hoey and Alisha Harris have organized an event where all earnings will go toward the father’s funeral.
“We have also started collecting donations from local businesses and have had so many generous donations for the raffle. The whole community just wants Nicky to have the send off he deserves,” Alisha said.
